A Quick Nature Scene

Rendered in BI. Let me know what you think.

Looks very good, especially on a cold winter day  Was that made with Cycles Hair?

the grass looks great

@ Paint Guy below the picture it is stated that the render was made in BI

Thanks. This was rendered in Blender Internal.

I haven’t tried cycles hair yet but thank you for reminding me. I have been meaning to download that.

This is a side view. I used a forced perspective trick to the scene look bigger. By making the fence posts smaller as they move away from the camera I was able to get away with using a smaller piece of terrain. The smaller terrain let me get away with using less particles, which in turn meant a faster render.

That’s a neat trick, provided you’re not animating the camera. I really didn’t notice it.

There are actually tutorials for cycles grass, even before this hair patch, but I guess this would be faster!

+1 Very cool.

Reminds me of Windows XP :stuck_out_tongue: Very nice.
Could you achieve a similar perspective trick by just using a wide lens?

You can do this to some degree. Based on the focal length you can make it feel a little bit longer/wider, but that still will not give you the illusion of depth as severe as what’s represented here.

I really like the composting on this. What did you post process with?

I composited this mostly in blender although because the compositor was so slow to update the images I ended up using photoshop for some color correction. I used Topaz labs plugin for photoshop to give it the sunset look.
