In many ways, I suggest, you went considerably farther (!) and better (!!) than the reference image with this most-excellent composition. Here, you are juxtaposing “light and dark” very close to each other, and especially, diametrically-opposing colors within the color wheel … often (e.g.) “just a few inches apart on the same chair.”
This is very excellent and rather avant garde use of what I’d call "theatrical lighting." The use of light for dramatic effect and emotion-building in what is otherwise a physically very simple scene. Excellent concept, execution, and rendering.
