A simple calculation

Please solve the following and post the solution, without editing afterwards. I’ll explain later.
Add those numbers: Take 1000 and add 40. Now add another 1000. Now add 30. Add another 1000. Now add 20. Now 1000 again. Now another 10. How much have you got?

I got 5000 am i right…and is this a trick question:confused: :stuck_out_tongue:

@nico: You’ve watched Braniac, right? :slight_smile:
I knew the answer from there - 4100…
(I don’t like the show if you ask, just this particular trick…)

I make it 2100

@Zazu:
This appeared in a quiz at a customer’s intranet, and my solution was 5000… :o
@all: There is only addition, take does NOT mean subtract.

I get 4100 as well. I’d like to know the point of this.

4100 here…

4100, so…?

5000… I don’t get it, how do you get 4100?:confused:
EDIT: Oh, wait, now I do! It’s 40 you add, not 400!
I’m a fool!:rolleyes::smiley:

Judging by your sig, the answer should be 132.

Stop asking us to do your homework :stuck_out_tongue:
BTW: I’ll help you cheat this time :slight_smile: Its 4100.

Funny, at first I didn’t even know what kind of trick this could be…now I think I know :smiley:
4100 for me, too. Although 132 aka 10000100 looks very intriguing to me as well :wink:
