I’m trying to model a tampon.:eyebrowlift: But I havent’ been using blender for about a year, and most of my knowladge has vanished. I wasn’t a good modeller even then. So, I’m aksing you to help me with ‘my tampon’. All I got was a tube:(
Well, when you take them out of the box, that’s pretty much what they look like. As for used tampons (gross  ) you’d probably need a reference. I doubt there’s much on-line. Got a digital camera?
i’ve found pictures of them. I just don’t know how to model the curve in the front. I can’t seem to get that half oval thingie…
I’m sorry, but…rofl
Erm, how are we supposed to know what you have problems with, when we don’t know your reference? But since you talked about “oval thingies” - have you tried Proportional Editing already (Hit o (o, not 0 aka zero) in edit mode)? Might help you here. To get it to work properly with a tube, though, you might need to subdivide a few times before (that means, add edge horizontal loops). Oh, and subsurf might be a good idea as well.
I had a pretty hard time restraining myself, too. I mean, I’m sure (:eyebrowlift: ) there’s a very good reason…( :eyebrowlift2: ) to model ( ) a tampon…
But I just can’t think of it at the moment.
You’ll need a reference image

Hope he doesn’t start snoring, hehe. Opening the mouth can be “fetal”.
Ah! The spurned lover’s revenge! Someone had a digital camera…
It was in a Cinema4D forum (so you’ll have to adapt to Blender), but perhaps you’ll find this useful:
Just use a sphere, split it around the middle then move one half away in a straight line then join the edges with faces.
Oh my god, I can’t stop laughing over that image.
Anyway, You could take a cylinder and sphere and scale to the right proportions and then combine. then its just vertex merging from there.
This whole thread is a hoot! Maybe particles and color ramps on the particle shader would be the way to go.
Wow, things are starting to get ugly  - what did that poor guy do?
Uhm, I’m quite sure that the materials will be quite challenging as well. Give us a call when you need help…or not :spin:

That won’t be realistic enough.
Use fluid and softbodies (sadomasochistic version)
as for references, just dip new ones into egg white. No need to get trashy.
But still…
:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D
That’s it, I’m leaving. :L
Man, I’m surprised this thread has been blocked yet.
In a recent thread, I showed a pretty girl with bikini , and I tried to explain it was a anti gravity bikini, but I got blocked anyway! Yet in this thread, the reference pictures are a shocker! I have to agree with you Khengi.
And Lotko05 you dildo, out of all the possible things model, you had to choose that one. That’s two weeks in detention for you son.
In the CG thread, leigh van der byl of Painting Face Maps fame, mentions the “legendary tampon ad.” Perhaps the good folks at lotko05’s new job are having him on, the ad agency equivalent of going on a snark hunt or being sent to the aircraft carrier’s supply room to bring back some flight line. hello? lotko05? How’s it going?
We used to send the “new kid” to the hardware shop for a long weight (they usually ended up with a long wait). Or we send them for a can of striped paint. If they were unbearable we’d tell them they must have a “turpsy rag” (A rag well-dampened with mineral turpentine/white spirits/paint thinner) in their back pocket at all times. If you’re not sure why this is of any consequence, try it (but don’t say you weren’t warned).
Sorry, drifting off-topic now.

Freznupple.
Hey! Thanks for your suggestions. I’ll try modeling it, thought I just realized I haven’t got a clue. The tampon I need is also for an ‘ad’, that would in the end be a joke to the washing powder.
After reading all of your posts (and seeing that disgusting reference pic), I realized I’ll need some more time to finish this project. Atm I’m kinda busy
I’ve checked the link t Cgtalk, and the *pic* posted there is similar to the tampon i want. Mine’ll have diagonal lines - they’re more absorbent.
If I ever finish this ‘project’ you guys will be the first to know.
(The reuslt will be a movie, where the main star is a woman and a rotating tampon )
