A Thousand Plateaus

This piece took me a whole lot of time. Modelling, creating textures etc.
It was quite tricky to optimize
Made with Blender, Substance Designer and Photshop.

Hi Marcel!

That’s a beautiful image! So many details, love the light and shadow, and appreciate the fact that the main buildings are all unique! Any chance to see a higher resolution one somewhere?

Also, I am wondering what inspired you to make it a Chinese city?

One small feedback if you allow, is that for some reason I can’t get a very good sense of the scale of this place, it should be huge but it feels a bit small. I would guess adding some vehicles flying around? Or maybe add a window in the foreground, to make it seem like someone is seeing this while flying over it?

Looks great! What parts of the render are procedurally generated and what is handcrafted?
I guess that the small grey buildings are procedural and then the buildings that have colour are handmade.

just a little bit of scattering for smaller buildings but everything else is handmade.

Later I’ll share higher res.
Always wanted to make a really packed city with layers like Tokyo 3 or in Akira.
Well I think different, but anyways thank you for the feedback!

great, many thanks!
