I’m doing a short (meaningless) anim. I thought it 'd be nice to do my first ever WIP-thread on this forum (iirc).
So far, the tree and the birdies are born:
and with birdies

Before I forget, comments and critics are naturally welcome

looks nice,
the “balls” look like floating, add some branches.
hmm,those are some strange birds
The balls are currently supposed to look like they’re floating. That’s also why the birdies have no legs.
Here an update with bench and grass.

I would make the “balls” a little less uniform, some could be less spherical and more elliptical, egg-shaped, bigger. Overall, I like the style. looking forward to the finished version:)
No offense, but that is by far the worst topic title I have ever seen. You freaken M rated it for a G rated image. :Z
I agree, it was damn inappropriate to use shit do describe such a shit-free image. A shitty thing to do, indeed;)

Oh, that Kansas. What will he think of next?
great stuff! I like the style, very much.
the ball shape is just perfect.
and I love that bench.

Topic edited by me.
Had it beena anyone but kansas that said that some of you might actually agree, and you certainly wouldn’t have flamed him.
JesterKing, good images. A bit noisy though. Otherwise good.
Dittohead I think your “a bit noise” you need to keep it down over there or the nieghbors will call the cops on ya and stuff :x . I still like your avatar, nice colors . I agree with Dittohead, a bit noisy, but I like in, looks good, definantly add branches and give a tad bit of squishens to the tree balls.
Peace,
Jimmy
PG-13 accualy :-? %|
@jesterKing: Nice style, can’t wait to see the censored ending :D[/quote]
Sure that’s what they say but if we increased the ratings of movies more because of language the word usage may go down.
PG 13 it is but maybe it should be increased to M to give more reason not to use it.
mmmmmm… green Cotton candy. I like it though, and I think the current level of noise looks good. I’m assuming your going to add a back set of feet to the bench though?

Oh well - I suppose I should have used ‘unhappy’, but in the end we’ll all agree on the well chosen title :]. I guess we play by American censorship rules here? shrug -biip- happens, right?

Thanks, I liked the bench too - The legs are still materialless, but further they fit the rest of the scene: simplification and leaving stuff out to support that simplification. I will add one more character to the set, the almost-victim…
We’ll see if I keep the AO, since it could do harm to the animation, which starts slowly to form.
/Nathan
Initially I had them egg-shaped, but because of the amount of leave I want in the tree it gave a really uneasy, busy feel to the scene, so I chose spheres instead.
/Nathan
i took out all ao/raytracing from my last animation… and replaced the stuff with just spots… and some sun lamps. took a bit more effort, but was well worth it.
especially, on a “non realistic” scene like you have here, it wouldn’t hurt at all. regular three spot system and strong hemi/sun underneath the whole thing pointing upwards…

Thanks for the info, I’ll have to give that a shot. I’ll keep the AO for stills though - cheap lighting for the lazy ;). For the current shots I have one strong hemi backlight, and one lamp in the front.

I have now altered the scene to do without AO. To get a small base shadow for the tree I faked it with a cloud-textured circle, but when I render it with the vanilla renderer, the OSA results suck (most notably with the bench), although I have OSA 11. Then I tried it with the unified renderer, the OSA is good, but now my fake base shadow doesn’t render…
For comparison see:

unified
Anyone know what is going on here?
