A very basic solidify issue

Hi there,

I’ve just started to learn Blender lately and can’t solve this issue!

Firstly I extruded the top face of a cylinder (selected the face then clicked "E)
Then applied Scale by going Object - Apply- Scale.

All I want is a container with 0.8cm thickness to the round tube area and 1.2cm at the bottom!

Thank you for your time

Hey there,

Solidify is generally used on ‘open’ faces - so in your case you simply delete the top face of the cylinder. Then solidify will add the thickness at whatever value you choose ( Scale reset essential ).

However in order for the interior base of the container to be 1.2 cm and not 0.8 you’ll need to ‘apply’ the solidify then select that interior face and move it up the necessary amount.

Hope that helps.

Hi DJ,

Thank you for your reply!
Managed to resolve the double solidify issue.

However I wasn’t sure how to select that interior face and move it up the necessary amount.
I only could select the bottom of the face then chose “Move” but it only changed the height of the cylinder.

Thanks
