Hey all,
Long-time lurker, occasional poster. I wanted to share something I’ve been building, with full disclosure up front: I’m a Blender artist myself (mostly archviz/product renders), and this came out of my own frustration, so take the pitch with that grain of salt.
The problem, if it sounds familiar: client comments on a render over WhatsApp, then sends a follow-up on email, then records a voice note explaining a material change they want, then three days later can’t remember which round of feedback they already gave. Reference images live in a random Pinterest board or a WeTransfer link. By revision 4 you’re not rendering anymore, you’re doing archaeology on your own inbox trying to figure out what was actually approved.
So I built Idear.app, a visual board where you drop your renders, versions, and reference material, and your client comments directly on the image, right where the feedback actually applies, instead of “see the door on the left, third from the top.” When you want a client to review, you switch the board to client mode: it’s the same board you’ve been working on, just handed over as a read-only (or comment-only) link, no separate client product, no client account needed. You send one link, they open it on their phone, they comment/approve, done.
A few things that turned out to matter more than I expected once other renderists started using it:
- Anchored comments on the image itself: feedback stays pinned to the exact spot, not floating in a chat thread you have to scroll back through.
- Before/after comparator: slide between two versions so the client actually sees the change instead of you explaining it in text.
- Voice notes on the board: clients who hate typing just record 10 seconds explaining what they mean.
- AI moodboard / concept sheets: useful when a client says “something warmer” and you need a starting point fast instead of five rounds of guessing.
- Snapshots/versioning: every round of revision is preserved, so “which version did we approve?” has an actual answer.
- Client mode: the read-only/comment-only link with no login wall mentioned above, which turned out to be the single biggest reason people stopped ghosting the feedback request.
Important context: even though I came at this from the rendering side, the board isn’t render-specific. Architects, interior designers, and construction/refurb project managers end up using it the same way, plans, material boards, and photos from site visits instead of renders. If you work on projects where an architect, interior designer, and renderer all need to weigh in on the same proposal alongside the client, that’s actually one of the main use cases, everyone comments on the same board instead of four separate email threads.
It’s in open beta right now, free, no card required. There’s a public demo board here if you want to poke around without signing up: idear.app/b/52iBAEbSOvgo0q3jxDgI
One heads-up: the app itself works fine in English (it auto-detects your browser language), but the public website/marketing pages are still Spanish-only for now, apologies in advance if you land on a Spanish page from a link somewhere on the site. Spanish is simply the language the app was originally built in; English copy for the marketing site is in progress. The actual board/demo above will switch to English on its own.
Genuinely curious what this community thinks, especially if you deal with client feedback loops on render work, what’s currently the most annoying part of that process for you? Happy to answer questions about how it works under the hood too.
