About Cloth Simulation

I didn’t know where to post this so please move if needed.

If I wanted to create a character with cloth simulation for use in a game using a game engine, would the animated cloth be part of the animation of the character or something that the game engine itself would implement? I.e in the game engine you load a model with the animation (or without) and it has some sort of cloth simulation feature where you can edit things like when the character is walking. Does that make sense? I’m sort of new to this sort of thing.

for a game, you’ll need to rig the clothes same as the character mesh. in fact, if a character is wearing clothes, it’s common practice to delete whatever is underneath, which simplifies rigging and conserves polys.
