About using cloth physics with armatures

I want to know if it is possible (and how) to use a cloth with a bone in order to animate things like a flag or a wing with a membrane…

I don’t know. But you don’t need a bone to animate a flag, and I think soft bodies would work better for the wing thing, but I also might not know what you mean.

Yes.

  • build model (flag and pole)
  • assign it to an armature (parented - create group)
  • assign the vertex group “bone” to the entire flag model
  • weight paint the vertex group “bone” to be “0” for the part of the flag that will not be “pinned” to the pole. (the flaggy part)
  • animate the bone
  • set the pin group for the cloth to “bone”
  • bake the cloth (repeat and modify as needed)Attached is a blend file ready to bake.
