‘Absence’ is an artwork that explores the idea of space. There’s a black hole on the left that bends what’s on the right. The initial idea was to make stars in a grid-like composition, but it didn’t turn out good. It was meant to dissolve the notion of space as such. A grid pattern doesn’t occur with stars, but I thought if I make this move, what remains is a glimpse or a moment that doesn’t yet exist. The introduction of fractals was a contrast to stars, it’s something we encounter in nature, and it might as well occur in space.
The render felt cinematic, the idea was not that strong, but it was a nice process of working this one out.
The camera? It suggests there’s a human behind all of this, recording memories, inventions, time itself…
Here is the render.
Best!
