Action Actuator for Scale and Material

I connected a Collision sensor to an Action which scales a character up when he gets a power up. But I made another action with keyframes on the Diffuse of a Material so he changes color while getting bigger.

When I play, the color changes but now scale doesn’t work. Is there some kind of hierarchy of actions I don’t know about?

There is a priority parameter in the action actuator that determines which action overrides another when on the same layer.
