Action Layers no longer work

I already submitted a bug report here, but wanted to post here to make sure I wasn’t missing anything.

The file in the bug report is a very simple setup that contains an armature that plays actions on layer 0 and layer 1. Normally actions on higher layers should play on top of actions on lower layers, but on newer versions of Blender (2.76 and higher) actions on higher layers don’t seem to play at all if there is an action playing on a lower layer.

Was there some interface or functionality change to how action layers work that I missed, or is this indeed a bug? It seems like a fairly significant bug to have been overlooked this long. I only just now noticed it as I’ve still been using 2.75.

/edit nvm looked at file and my answer is incorrect

but still wondering, if you want it to go diagonally why not make an action for it?

I talked to someone about it and they suggested it was user error,

I have been having issues with layers not mixing for some time,

this is why I use the action actuators, their behavior is slightly more predictable.

It’s clearly not user error as you can open the same file with 2.75 and 2.76 and observe different results.

It also has nothing to do with Python vs Actuators. I tested the same setup using only actuators, and it has the same problem.

ah, I have not had ‘blend’ work in python, but it works in actuators…

Totally a bug. Even when using separate channels the animation gets all choppy.

Works fine in UPBGE though. It’s worth checking out if you haven’t already.
