action problem

ok so I have this problem that I dont know how to add armature animation in an action name. I know how to do it with shape keys but I still cant figure out how to make specific ipos be part of an action name. could someone please help

P.S. what are tags?

no idea what tags are but anyway. action is one of the few things I know about blender. first split your work area, select the window that has the 3d view and change it to action editor from there it’s fairly easy, just add a new AC, put your armature in pose mode, and insert keyframes by pressing the “i” key and selectin “LocRotScale” to name it go down in the action editor window to the part where it says AC:blahblahblah and change whatever it’s named to your desired name. if this wasn’t helpful, I’d suggest looking up some youTube videos to see how it’s done. It’s helped me alot.

ok I tried what you said but the actions still dont happen in the game engine. Is there anything special I have to do with the armature like make it dynamic or something. Do i have to have vertex groups and bone groups. please answer asap

no, the armature needs to be a ghost and static. you need a senseor controller and actuator as well. sensor: keyboard, say, uparrow. controller: same and actuator: action, AC"same name" continue is on and Loop End it. Oh, yeah and on the armature, add a sensor, set to always, add a controller and actuator and set the actuator to parent and parent it to your player.

AAAAHHHHHHHHH!!! grrrrrrr… this is stupid. I did the logic exactly as you told me but every time I had everything ready to play I pushed P and blender crashed and quit. I did it again like 3 times and it did the same thing. I think its a bug (I have version 2.49 beta). It would play if I didnt have the rest of my stuff ready. but once I had everything it crashed. this definately gives me a reason to upgrade to 2.5.

Oooook I tried some different stuff and I figured out it only crashes when I have the parent actuator connected to the and controller. (there goes that idea) I was almost sure that is why my armature wasnt working. grrrrrr guess ill never know. thanks anyway
