Add Object to Existing Rigging/Armature

I have a fully rigged and animated armature with a nude body attached as a first draft. However, now I’m trying to add clothes to the animations. I modeled the clothes and now have two objects - the body and the article of clothing. How do I add the new clothing to the existing armature? I tried parenting it to the body, and I tried parenting it to the armature, but I couldn’t get anything to work.

Parent the clothes to specific bones for parent relations ship, but try using a stretch wrap modifier on the clothes with the body mesh as its target, and fiddle with the offset for getting the clothes to stay off the skin a bit.

Thanks for the help! I figured out that I ended up with two armature modifiers on the existing body, so the animations were all messed up.
