[Add-on] I made pixel selection tools for Blender’s Image Editor

Hi there!

I am not an advanced 3D artist, and when I make drafts or concept sketches in Blender, I often do small image and texture edits directly inside Blender. One thing I found a bit inconvenient is that Blender’s Image Editor does not really have a selection-tool workflow like many painting apps.

So I made an add-on called Marquee Essentials that adds a pixel selection workflow to the Image Editor. It lets you create selections on an image using shapes, UVs, or mesh faces, so you can make small local edits to textures or sketches directly inside Blender.

Short intro:

Main features:

  • Shape selection tools
  • Magic wand
  • UV-based selection
  • Mesh face based selection
  • Selection adjustments (Grow, invert, feather)
  • Transform, quick fill/clear, and copy operations.
  • Edit selected areas with Blender’s brush tools
  • Quick save selected area to a new image

If you want to see more detailed information, you can find it here:

I’m still working on improving the interaction and some UV-related features, so I’d be happy to hear feedback from people who edit textures or sketches in Blender.
