Add-On Not Showing Up in Preferences Menu after Download

I am using version 2.73 on a Mac with Yosemite, and I was trying to download the Add Mesh regular solids add-on. I have tried putting the Add Mesh Solid python file on my desktop and installing the file through the preferences menu, and I also have manually put the file in the Addons folder in Blender. When I look to activate the addon, it isn’t showing up.

I also read in a forum that you need this raw Mesh Utils file as well. Hereis the link for that, however that doesn’t work either.

Enable the ‘Add Extra Objects’ addon that already comes with blender (no need to download, just enable it in user preferences). This includes that addon as stated on the wiki page for the regular solids addon
