Hi, im doing a video in Blender in the VSE , to add text either i can render a png with alpha with the text or create a scene with the text and then layer those on top of my footage.
It would be great if Blender´s VSE could have add text option right on the VSE, and that you could place it wherever you want.
Much faster, easier and i think Better than having to create it in a separate png , or having to render the scene where the text is everytime you wanna see the text.
This kind of feature is long overdue in Blender. It is the one main thing that keeps me from using Blender to edit my regular (i.e. live action) videos. It is way too tedious to try and add text the way things are set up right now. Let’s hope we see a good implementation of something soon! Blender would be unstoppable if this feature were added.
Yeah, but if you add text, then you have to add a text tool, right?
You know a really good way to edit the text on screen with full kerning, multiple font support based upon selection and all those Adobe features that we miss.
I’m sure you would want to scale text right? Or animate the character spacing to create text like effects…
You’d certainly want a drop shadow after all that.
And all this can already be done, as you mentioned. With an image sequence or including the scene.
You know, after finishing an animation recently, I realized that text is not as huge of a pain as I had imagined. The initial set up is, but… well, I’ll try to remember to come back here some time in the future and describe the set up I came up with. It basically involved creating a separate scene within the .blend file and putting each title for my sequence on a separate layer.
It would be cool to rapid animate the 3D text from a scene, via GLSL preview (quick render out and import). It’s very fast. You would miss the key-ability of course. And GLSL preview doesn’t playback well in VSE yet.
