Adding a gloss to a UV mapped graphic

Hey there all, not sure why I’m not getting a glossy look on my object that has a UV mapped graphic.
Here are my two builds in node editor.
One didn’t work the way I thought and the other shows what I’m looking for in the preview window in of the materials tab but does not seem to render in the final. red arrow where the reflections should be
Or I’m i totally missing the boat on this one?.

If anyone can point me to a video or tutorial that would be great help.

thanks
CS

I have attached a blend file showing how to do it in a slightly more advanced way. with this method you would need to create a b/w mask of your decal coverage area so that you can use a different amount of gloss on the decal than the rest of the object. If you have a simple square decal, then you would cover the decal in all black, and the rest of the image in white.Of course if your image has an alpha channel you can just use teh alpha output of the image node for the mask. You control the amount of gloss on the decal with the color mix node.
