adding a plane

I am trying to create a plane in front view. When I create the space>mesh>plane, the plane is positioned in the x and y axes so can only be seen as a line in front view. I have used another computer where I was able to produce a plane which is seen in front view. I removed and reinstalled blender on my computer but still the same. Is this something to do with settings? Thanks for any help as I am a blender beginner.

I’m not sure I understand your problem, but if it what I think it’s very simple.

Just… rotate it.

press R, then X to lock rotation to just the X axis, then type 90 so it rotates it 90º.

User Preferences -> Edit Methods -> Add new objects: Aligned to View

In older versions of Blender this was on by default, in newer versions it is off by default.

Best wishes,
Matthew
