Adding armature - cannot see bones?

I have a model and want to add armature to it. When I click where I want to put the armature and do “add: armature,” nothing appears. What am I doing wrong?

Are you perhaps zoomed out too far?

I don’t think so - I’ve zoomed in as close as possible and still can’t find it.

Never mind - I was looking at a local view instead of a global view.
