Hello there, i’m not too great at this sorta thing so i’ll try and keep it brief.
Iv’e spent the last month or so following as many tutorials and guides as i can and have just started on my first scratch model, i’m reletively happy with it thus far but i’m kind of lost on how i should add the details to this model.
It’s not the best reference picture im afraid but i’m trying to recreate the helmet on the right, with the strap and goggles attached.
At present this is what my tolopogy looks like, it’s just the basic helmet and the chin straps. I’m reletively happy with it and when rendering / solid view it looks fine, to me.
I attempted to model the strap using subdivisions, moving loops around and then extruding, but i can’t stop it following follows the contours of the helmet, if that makes sense. This is the best iv’e managed to get thus far.
So im kind of at an impass, I get the impression that i am kind of approaching this the right way but because of the way i’ve modeled the helmet it will be incredibly difficult if not impossible to acheive? I’m thinking I should have built this with a loop for the strap in the first place rather than trying to add it in afterwards?
also I don’t know if this is relevant or not but the plan is that this will hopefully be a prop for a game not a static render.
Thanks for your time.
