Adding IK to a mixamo rig

Hey guys! Just started experimenting with character animation. So far I think the easiest method I’ve found to rig my characters is just to send them to Mixamo and then import those animations into blender. I’m wanting to expand on those animations and start building my own, so I was wondering if it’s possible to add IK controls to a mixamo rig, since the Auto IK is giving me a few issues with bending limbs in weird ways. If anyone has any resources for me to check on this, I’d really appreciate it.

I have just given it a try, imported as basic FBX with a basic skeleton…
and it’s perfectly possible… you disconnect the controller bones (such as chin, wrists, ankles, knees, elbows, groin) in edit mode and add your own configuration to them…

They are a good foundation…

edit: …on the bending issue, you might need to go and change weights around… meaning that you should select the bone that affects the area and paint it differently until you get the right result.
