Adding reflection/shadows to live footage

I’ve noticed people asking about this, even more frequently since the ‘libvm’ library was added to Blender. So I decided to present one possible method on how to add reflections and shadows to a still image, or image sequence. Any feedback is of course welcomed.

Great tutorial man. Thank you.
I have a question, how did you align nodes at 16:55?
Thank you again!

Glad you liked it!

Select the ones you want to align, press ¨S¨, then Ÿ¨ and Enter.

excellent tutorial here!thank you for sharing!

I have done a little camera match-moving example with reflection and shadow casting in a live footage: http://youtu.be/2VJIirFKTl8
as i can remember i did that in a single render layer then render the cg sequence and superimposed it on the live footage with a color correction.

watched twice, liked it! I appreciate how you point out work around little blender bugs too.

My only additional wish is to see the final animation with the reflection.

Thanks! I’ll upload it once I have the time to render it.

Anyway, as requested in the compositing forum, here’s another (better) method on how to add reflections and shadows. Simply put, it allows for more control over the reflection pass.

Here’s my third tutorial on compositing reflections and shadows, this time using Cycles:

Enjoy! =)
