Adding textures to Blender - newbie

I have downloaded some textures from some of the Blender resources and can’t figure out how to get them into the program so I can use them. I am still very new to Blender. I have worked only in Raydream Designer 5.5.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

John :-?

Hmmm. That is a very broad question/subject.

This is from the online doc: http://www.blender.org/modules/documentation/htmlI/c4607.html. Of course, since you are loading image textures, you will most likely need to UV map them. A video tutorial on LSCM UV Mapping can be found here: http://blender3d.com/cms/Model_Material_Light.397.0.html. It is the last one on that page. Browse around and find some tutorials. Are there any specifics you are confused about?

For example, these are the 2 different files I downloaded:

matlib_v102.blend
SonixCarMaterialLibrary.blend

How do I access these textures/shaders?

John

file-append-material

this will add the material you seek to your current blend

applying it and all that, you should go through some tutorials on the subject
