Addon for Direct Audio Waveform Node?

Hello- at present, one of the only stock ways to do automated audio visualization in nodes is by baking that sound to an F-curve, which seems to be doing power-averaging on the signal.

For visualizations like oscilloscopes or physically-accurate speaker cone movements, this is not a useful signal. Instead, we want the actual audio waveform available as data in nodes.

Is there an addon that serves this purpose- being able to load in an audio file and use it’s actual waveform as a node output? Or, at the very least, being able to bake an audio waveform’s actual shape to an animation (which could be applied to animating a Value node)?

There is this addon in contrib/testing projects.blender blender-addons-contrib src branch main io_import_sound_to_anim

( Dozen of YT-vids…)

…and of course also some free to paid ones…

I’d found most of those previously, but unfortunately it seems none of them provide the actual audio waveform itself as an output you can use.
