Addons don't work in blender 4.2

Many of my old helpful addons are not working in 4.2. I see small text suggestion to reinstall it from extentions.blender. org.

Modifiers tools for example that adds buttons to apply , collapse etc.

I found it at extention. blender.org. Drag and drop is not working . regular installation is not working either. What did I miss ?

Any advice please ?

That sounds weird. It works for me. Do you mean Modifier List [Fork] ?
You can also do it in preferences/extensions. All the extensions are listed.

on a window basis
C:\Users\XX\AppData\Roaming\Blender Foundation\Blender
Remove that version of extensions folder from the path and try reinstalling it. :thinking:

Most previous Addons work.
Only old unmanaged Addons do not work. :slightly_smiling_face:

Also, the default Addon provided by the blender all works.
The changed extensions system can be updated online without individual updates (not including additional Addons)

Done it already . I mean i unistalled the whole Blender and installed it back with copy settings from blender 4.1 option. No difference .

Here what I see .
When I try to install them again I see this missing index.json file that is really not there

The default Addon you used before is not used. Reinstall is required.

In the case of octane, we need to find out if it supports blender 4.2.
Maybe they won’t support the latest blender version.

That’s the problem I can’t re-install. When I try i see this error message about missing index.json. Did a clean re-install and still see the same. Same error message when I try to download and install from extentions.blender.org

Octane is just an old relic. I am not using it really.

Click the X on the list to remove it
Find and reinstall the same addon.

There is nothing special about index.json.

Thanks for trying to help oo_1942 . I already tried to hit X first then to re-install again . It does no difference.

ps. Solved the issue somehow . By using Chrome while drugging Loop tools from extension.blender. org. and dropping it to Blender. Did it from Firefox initially and Modifier tools addon and it didn’t work at all. Now somehow it worked and suddenly all other missed addonss get installed on their own. :face_with_raised_eyebrow:
