I’d like to install LuxBlend 2.5, but I don’t want to install it to the same direcotry as Blender binary. I’d like to use my user configuration directory, because I won;t have to reinstall my addons every time I upgrade Blender.
So i created ~/.blender/2.57/scripts/addons/ and copied the luxblend direcotry here, but it doesn’t work. So I tried Install Add-on… button, pointed it to init.py, but it did nothing. So I tried to copy some existing addon, change it’s metadata to make it look as new one, and installed it. It got copied to Blender’s directory next to default addons.
In my opinion, this behaviour sucks, since you will have to reinstall addons every time yout upgrade Blender, and if you install Blender to some system directory as root, normal users won’t have permission to install addons, which should be possible.
Am I doing something wrong, or should I file bug?
