Putting advertisement on Blender.org could bring more money to the Blender Fundation. And as far as i know the guys at Blender fundation could reallly need some money.
Or find sponsors and put “Sponsored by XYZ” on the sides .
I think it quite a good idea, it doesnt have to be advertisement but some kind of pointer to other companies that would pay for being on Blender.org
Advertisement of blender on other websites and why it’s worth to be supported, would be even better in my opinion.
Reasons like its freedom and openness. Blender is more than a great piece of software but also a piece of freedom. You do not only gain access to great tools but also a community that beliefs in other ways to do it as in not selling a product but let have others access to it for free (or many at least as there are always different opinions). I am supporting blender because of that since 2.42a (April 2006 or so). Putting advertisement on blender.org would maybe generate a bit more money but also take its freedom and also its advertisement free nature.
Let’s support blender by advertising it and its ideals. Let’s tell others why it’s worth to dedicate money, resources and knowledge.
Oh, and I think that there are more ways to support blender and the blender community. If you can’t afford money, spread the word, stand up for it, do Tutorials, develop … There are so many ways.
