Hi. I am trying to use some textures from Quixel, but I frequently run into the same limitation with some of the works I need to do. How do you use a texture that comes 2x2 meters in a big space ? I am super happy with the service their provide, but when it comes to making floors or walls…then I have the tiling problem. I am just wondering how do you use those textures in big spaces ? Do you have any workaround where you can avoid the tiling that will surely come if you model any surface bigger than 2 m?
For some small models they are just perfect but when you come to floors & walls ( stonewalls, cobbles, roofing, etc… ) they are useless.
I make and use my very own textures ( by hand with GIMP i don’t use any substance tools ).
One workaround you could tryout though is adding a dirtmap ( or irregularities map ) over the tiles… ?
Maybe another workaround would be to add a discrete displacement map in UV domain ?
Your question is a common one and it’s almost impossible to answer with textures of small surfaces.
Happy blending !
EDIT: you can of course go in the awesome world of procedural texturing but if you intend to do realtime renders, forget about it
