People with experience using both programs please give your opinions and knowledge of which is better for Blender. Specifically I’m interested in abilities related to preparing images to use as textures in Blender, adding text and vector graphics, and various post production. Of course, all analysis is welcome not just those features.
I am mostly interested in those two programs but if you have used a free* program other than Gimp that is equal or better for you than those then mention that too.
…no honestly… doesn’t this totally depends on what you are used to ?? And if not used to anything… then in the end it doesn’t matter ( there are people making art with MS-paint…)
And finally (no joke)… have you tried Blender → File → New → 2D Animation… ?? Just to discover what’s possible… (and for images directly the via Workspace: Textue Paint )…
I use the Affinity collection ( Photo/Designer/Publisher ) so checking the file open dialogue . . .
these are the supported formats.
Looking at the Corel PaintshopUltimate ( the equivalent of the affinity suite from what I can tell) info on their website the default file format is PSP, which in not on the list in the above image. So I’d have to guess it’s not compatible directly.
Both Affinity ( Affinity V2 Universal Licence ) and Corel ( PaintShop Pro 2023 Ultimate ) have 30 day trials of their packages, I suggext you try both. I also see that Corel’s software comes with a specific paint package called Painter essentials, which might be of particular use for your goals.
