My 2-year-old son is a shark freak, so I decided to make shark stickers for his christmas presents, so he can find out which presents are for him. Starting very abstract, I had fun going a little into the Pixar/VenomGFX direction
Here’s the result (his name is Ai, because that’s what my son calls him. Hai is german for shark)
great work your son will ove it, i wish my dad did stuff like that for me . anyway just one technical question, how did you get the cool light pattern on his back? is it a texture? or caustics?
like your shark, even though he has a really silly looking grin, i would add in a crap load of teeth.
by the way if your son is a big shark fan i must suggest buying him some megalodon shark teeth off ebay. these things are freaking awsome. megalodon is basically a prehistoric shark that lived millions of years ago. they grew to be three to four times the size of a great white. the teeth are huge 5 to 7 inches long. bad ass, your kid will loose his mind!
even though these things lived so long ago they are still finding tons of these prehistoric teeth all over the ocean floor!
Yeah how is that lighting done? Volumetrics? textures? Caustics?
Wu:
I didn’t know you could get these teeth.
Shouldn’t they be in a museum?
And if I read correctly it could get 6 times the size of a grown white.
That’s disturbing.
P
The fake caustics come from a buffer spot lamp with:
Cloud texture, Voronoi F2-F1 Noise basis, 0.05 noise size, hard noise, Texture blending mode: Multiply.
The caustics are far from perfect, but I think they do the job, and I have too many half-finished blend files on my PC.
man that just looks magical, would you care to post a blend file, or atleast some screen shots so we can better understand that lighting setup, if you want a host for your file go to the model repository
Wow, awsome man. Not only can you do good work, you can finish something in the first place!

A great pic, Nico! But that’s not what I wanted to talk about…
See, You’re son’s expression on that photo is pure gold. Do You mind if I use it as my standard “WTF?!” pic on another forum?
…
Silly me, of course You do. But hey, I could even give You the Credit!
Very cool! I like it The tyke should have fun with it, maybe you could make a picture book with it and some other sea creatures for him.
Wu: don’t you think it’s a little wierd they are still finding lots of those teeth on the sea floor? Either the world isn’t as old as evolution suggests (my personal belief, being Christian, but let’s not go offtopic) Or something similar is still living down in the deeps… :o theremin music plays hey, it’s not like we’ve exlpored much of the deep ocean, it’s a possibility!
