Airship or I just don´t know, how to call it :-)

This is background screen of adventure game Ron Loo. It will be comercial game with about 80 sceens like this and almost all art as well as this scene is done in my beloved Blender :slight_smile:

Playable demo will be soon but I have some problems with english version-how to call this sailship/airship? I don´t mean name like “Santa Maria” but term for vehicle itself. Airship doesn ´t sound romantic enought to me :slight_smile:

In czech original I call it “vetrolet” which is composition of words for “wind” and “flight”.

I will be much grateful for any ideas as well as for criticism.

This is beautiful work!! I love it.

Only crit is that the buildings seem to be lacking some extra details, but that is very minor.

Definitely yes! That metal construction is bridge to the gigantic tower with several piers like this.

In game you will even play one chapter on the board of such vehicle (not this especialy- this is ship of main character´s enemy - on the other hand, you can explore it whole in forthcoming demo:-) ).

There are also pubs and restaurants above the city as they are in large baskets of balloons. One of them player will visit in full game too:-)

Yes, you are right- I am working on it, the only problem is, that buildings itself overcome polygon limit of Blender render :frowning:

It will be just matter of further texturing :smiley:

I think it’s either a balloon ship or an air galleon. I’m not sure though.

Every 3d artist has to make an air ship sooner or later :wink: (I named mine Dawngreeter btw ;))
I’m not very good at coming up with names, so no help from me on that point. How about picking a name from greek mythology or something (this would seem apropriate advice since this is the elysiun forum ;)) maybe call it an icarian ship, or just icarian. That’s the best I could come up with.

Hey, thank you all for nice words and nice ideas!

So now I work with words:

cloudship
windship
windcraft
sailsfly
sailoon (sails+baloon :slight_smile: )

Icarion would be fine but I cant use any Earth mythology as story tooks place on another planet with no contacts to our world :slight_smile:

Any native speakers here? Which of words above sounds best to you?

Great scene! I prefer the word “dirigible” myself. Can’t wait to see the final project. Keep us updated!

Very cool. It looks like the ships from Final Fantasy IX. They called those airships and I personally like that name.
