This is my first work with Blender (well…the first work with any 3D program if you forget the plain cubes or spheres everyone of us has done…g).
I haven’t read any tutorials yet, just the first few chapters of Carsten Wartmann’s Blender book, so that I knew how to use the -uhm- “special” user interface of Blender.
I posted the image to the WIP group, cause I want to add more details (screws, better textures, etc.) - but first of all I want to add some “profile” to the very flat looking (most of the parts are just extruded Beziers) metal body and the magazine.
It’s good but definitely too blocky. There are a couple of things missing. Such as the magazine release paddle. The gas piston block REALLY needs to be rounded. And the front site neads be carved out so you have 2 little doggy ears with a post in the middle. Can’t tell if that is a flash supressor or some kind of muzzle break on the front, or if its just part of the barrel. I also dont see the charging handle.
ColKlink scares me
I thought that that was the big selling point of the AK-47… Any third world revolutionary could just extrude them from a few simple beziers
Pretty nice. Definitely could use more detailing, shave off the sharp edges. Maybe you should apply some image textures to make it look scratched up, rust, etc.
Oops, I see that you plan on doing that anyways. The grip looks kind of wide, and I’m not a gun expert, but it seems like there should be some sort of groove or rail on the clip. Maybe you should also try out a metal stock?
