This is cool looking. I remember some of your posted art from several months ago, and this is much better!
Constructive crits:
Tail doesn’t necessarily need to be smaller. I’d think he wants to be able to strike a certain distance ahead of himself with it. But it could have move and varied form from the front view.
Center of gravity. I know it’s not posed yet, but there’s no way this thing wouldn’t flop over as it is. Does it use its front arms for support? Hard to tell.
Eyes: it wouldn’t hurt to make them a little bigger. For the actual eyes, check out the eye-making tutorial in the Animation forum. The irises should probably fill almost the whole visible area. I’d make them yellow with red flecks. A vertical pupil would look cool.
Texturing: what you have is good as a base. You may need to uv map eventually, though, as you’ll want to have darker skin around the eyes, maybe some different coloration in the throat, etc.
Yes, the tail is actually in the lenght I want it to be, but I am gonna make it go thinner to the point where the tail blade starts. I am also gonna add some bone blade segments, more visible ones, (like stegosaurs have) on the tail.
Yes, it’s using one or both arms as help when it moves (hopefully)
Thanks for the idea
I’ve bondered some color schemes thinking of UV mapping, but haven’t decided anything specific yet.
Modron: Yup, I am gonna take care of that part when it’s rigged
From your design, it looks like a strong, fast, and fairly
intelligent predator. (Opposable thumbs! Yow!)
There are 2 things I’d like to suggest:
Most predators have binocular vision so they can target
the prey better. Maybe move the eyes a little so that they’re
aimed more toward the front than the sides… or maybe eye
turrets, like a chameleon. On a second look, you may already
have them facing forward. If so, please ignore this.
You have a nice crest on the top of the head, which suggests
a large area to anchor the jaw muscles… more muscles, more force…
more force… easier to crack through tough bones. But the lower jaw
structure looks pretty thin to have that kind of force behind it.
I’d expect the lower jaw to be more like the proportions of a hyena’s jaw.
But both of those are more form/function suggestions. Modelling and
texture-wise, great job!
