100% blender. lately i’m using a cheap 1gb ram win8.1 tablet at work during lunchtime for hard surfaces.
everything on the 2nd page in this thread was created using that. poly modeling+subsurf so that i can uv easily.
Did that one come out of a bird, or maybe a turtle/tortoise?

just unrecogniseable background flesh.

simple and 24fps ready.
120k poly model with a
bunch of 4k normal maps
conforms nicely.

I think the legs and stuff might look better with a more biomech style, maybe something like metallic muscles, or at least a smooth carapace look, instead of that crinkly rubber appearance you got there… Hm, what was it like with the movie ones?
first animation test.
still has lots of annoying fluidity errors
but i’ve felt it was ready to be published
and taken apart…what would you change?

yeah, thank you for letting me feel like a total jerk in modelling! no, just kidding. this is a great piece of work. and i exspecially like you turtle/bird chestbursterdesign. you have fully understood, what gigers design was about. go on! and dont forget: 1gotp1nk8cidbootson
