This is really pissin’ me off!
Today I started Opera like always but it crashed on a number of occasions-
so I checked for viruses in the application data/opera folder which has been the
cause of these kinds of crashes before but I found none.
Then when I restarted opera again it was all default.
Now I see that ALL OF MY BOOKMARKS AND SETTINGS ARE GONE!!!
I need HELP and fast!
I’ve never used Opera, so I’m not sure what’s causing that to happen, but I found a suggestion on Google for if it has actually deleted your bookmarks:
- goto Help > About and look for the path to your bookmarks file: Mine
looks like this:
C:\Documents and Settings\Tim\Application Data\Opera\7\profile\opera6.adr
- QUIT Opera
- Now, go to the directory (i.e.)
C:\Documents and Settings\Tim\Application Data\Opera\7\profile\
and look for a file named
- Copy that file somewhere safe (i.e. your desktop)
- Now, rename ‘opera6.adr’ to ‘opera6-corrupt.adr’
- Rename opera6.adr.bak to opera6.adr
- Restart Opera
Hopefully this will restore your bookmarks. If not it will be a good
reminder that you ought to be backing things up regularly.
Here’s the page I found it on in case you’re wondering.
Hope this helps
Nop. opera6.adr.bak is gone. But I have opera6.adr.
Looked at it… and woo hooo!!! I have 5 bookmarks of my former hundreds
remaining and the 5 which I havn’t used for years
EDIT: I even found a backup of my files on a cd I wrote in 2005. That means that that’s worthless.
And I had another backup which was newer but I think its gone. I cant find it.
