i cant figure out how to do both. i want a semi-transparent texture for an alpha face. but if i do “color to alpha” in gimp to save the opacity of my texture, i cant use “add to alpha channel”. if i use “add to alpha channel”, setting “color to alpha” seems to remove it from the alpha channel once in blender. HELP PLEASE!
maybe I’m missing something, but to get a semi-transparent just use the opacity cursor in the layer window, and save as TGA or PNG?!

That adds the alpha channel. I think OTO is correct in suggesting that you need to select image formats that Blender likes.
yes, i save as a tga, but in the Game Engine, it wont face the camera.
