Alpha channel shadows

Hello everyone. :slight_smile:
I just followed this nice and simple tutorial on use of the alpha channel.
It unfortunately doesn’t cover what I need in order to acheive the results I would like.

I was wondering; is there a way to render shadows in the transparent alpha area(s)? I am assuming I will need a plane that the shadows are cast on, but could that plane be set to alpha/transparent (except where shadows are cast on it)?

I hope I do not sound confusing. Any help will be kindly appreciated. :slight_smile:

Yes it is possible.
In this case you could give the plane a Material and in the Shaders Panel you activate the -Shadow- button and the -OnlyShad- button.

If there is an object behind the plane you want to render as well you should activate the -ZTransp- Option in the Links and Pipeline Panel too.
