Alpha Material Problem: White Outline Around Object

I encountered an issue, white outlines appear on the edge of the object that uses alpha cut-out material. The texture is just a png file with alpha channel. Same problem occurs on a tga file. I tried messing around with the alpha to no avail. What could be the problem?

Notice the white outlines around the trees.

I’ve included the blend file.

For this plant I’d use aplha clip and edit the aplha channel so it is basicly binar(either white or black). This would be to avoid this and would fit well for a plant…

Try messing with the alpha blend…

I’ve not had much experience in texturing but I decided to turn on color and alpha for both of your textures in the texture panel–>influence and also replace the blend mode in this the prob_solution.blend (3.16 MB)

Alright that fixed it. Thanks guys.

Posting here for a similar problem, can’t find solution, please help.

2.7, Cannot get ‘white background’ in image to appear as transparent when using alpha. Followed a 2.53 tutorial for image animations.

Premultiplied is not making the white background transparent

Premultiply is for black backgrounds. As far as I’m aware, white only shows up when you forget to turn z transparency down in the material settings. You can’t actually remove the white background without using a negative mask or something (it would just be quicker to remove the background in gimp).
