You used 6 8K textures and 3 4K textures but the final render is only 720 x 1280? Seems sorta overkill if you ask me. You should make a much higher resolution final render.

About the 8k res textures and the low render size - I guess I’ll have it render a high res version overnight, was planning to add particle hair before the high res render, but it doesn’t work out…

I changed the crop as well as lowering the contrast in the background, as Andrew suggested. The image aspect is now 24/36, which is standard as a poster aspect. Resolution is 2400x3600, rendered at 512 cycles samples. Rendertime: approx. 3 hours on 7 cpu cores

I love this rendering style, feels like an update to the Japanese artists of old.
A hand that at best would drench you with saliva and at worse chew you into pieces O.o.
The texturing really appears to hold up in the ultra high-res render, showing just how much texture work has gone into this. That is just nuts (in a good way).
Yeah, I can’t make it look right, I’ll try again some time in the future when I’m better at hair particle simulations.
I’d love to make the mini dragon though!

Yeah, the textures are pretty sharp, though there are some noticeable UV-stretching from the sculpting a couple of places… What it probably really needs is that I sculpt one level higher resolution in my subsurface modifier, then I’d probably be happy with the high-res render. Maybe I can fake it with the normal map, because my pc starts going unresponsive if I go any higher. :eek:
Btw, what’s with the hand, I simply can’t see it ! can someone mark it in red? I feel like I’m making out shapes from clouds :spin:
