Alpharrrggh!

Bear with me a bit, I’ve looked at a few tutorials that haven’t really helped.

I wanted to use alpha channels for hair.
These are the steps I went through:

  1. Alpha channel in Photoshop >> MAke a Tiff/Targa
  2. Load into Blender
  3. Map input, UV; Map to Col and Alpha
  4. UseAlpha on, Ztransp on
  5. Ref to 1; Spec to 0; Hard to 1
  6. Shadeless

If I don’t map it to Alpha, everything just turns transparent.
When mapped to alpha, it gives this:

What am I doing wrong?

It’s a tiff/targa image with color and an alpha channel.
I use Blender 2.49b

Any help?

nothing changed, i just made the alpha channel completely black. but how do i not make it so sharp? i mean does alhpha support anti-aliasing? or is this as good as it gets?

  1. UseAlpha on, Ztransp on

did you also drop the value to 0?

since the texture is normally set to ‘mix’ i believe it has to be 0 to blend the alhpa’s together correctly.

Thanks for the reply.
I forgot to mention that, but I did.
