Alt key won't work in Ubuntu - Requesting update

Does anyone know if this is still the best solution to using the Alt key in Ubuntu?
Considering the original thread dates back to 2013, and with the newest LTS (16.04) just released, I was wondering if there’s is still the need to install CompizConfig or does Ubuntu 16.04 comes with something to fix that.

Anyone?

Which window manager are you using. I’m in XFCE and the alt key is changed in Settings->Window Manager Tweaks. I’ve set mine to None.

Ubuntu still reserves certain hotkey combinations. There is also a dropdown terminal app on the Mate desktop called Tilda that launches with F12 (It can be changed in Tilda preferences) :confused: https://ubuntu-mate.community/t/tilda-appears-after-16-04-installation/8111

The one on the left. :slight_smile: Pretty sure you can also configure it in dconf editor, though I haven’t looked in there for some time.

I never, ever use unity/compiz. Apart from seeming to have been designed for touchscreens all the extra animations and effects use resources I would rather have available for rendering. :slight_smile:

Looks like I’ll have to stick with CompizConfig/Unity Tweak Tool then. As Ubuntu 16.04 uses Unity for its Desktop environment.
