I use linux and was trying to use ALT Right mouse button to select a row of vertices but that combination brings up a linux system menu. What is the new shart cut please.
your window manager is misconfigured, there are other threads in this forum on this topic…
not having used linux in a while I don’t remember where the setting is, under the kde control center window behavior I belive the setting for a “meta key” for moving windows and such defaults to alt, set it to none [no key/mouse combo has these options] or the window/apple key [called something different in linux] to be able to use alt+mouse combinations in blender.
In Linux the Windows keys are usually mapped to Super_L and Super_R. I can’t remember what the Windows Menu key is mapped to…
If you google xmodmap you should find a list of the key names.
Your window manager isn’t “misconfigured.” It’s configured in a way that isn’t necessarily Blender-friendly. Personally, I like the ALT menu functionality in my WM and I don’t feel like remapping keys, so a quick solution that’s worked for me is to use SHIFT+ALT+RMB. SHIFT is commonly used for multiple selections, but if you don’t have anything selected, it works fine for one-time selections and (for me, at least) gets around the ALT-bound-by-the-wm problem.
