Is there an alternative to after effects that’s free, preferably quite stable, and runs under xp? I’ve really wanted to be able to add effects such as those available in after effects, and even though some can be acheived in blender, I’m sure you can understand that they’re just not as easy or sometimes good as those in after effects. I’ve heard of a pasitron something or other, but didn’t want to read through 20 pages of info, so I haven’t looked into it.

Free good compositor?
I’ve found three or four which, combined, almost give you the functionality of AFX.
They are Wax, ZS4, and Jahshaka. Cinepaint is also good for painting on image sequences.

There is, obiviously, workflow issues using three different compositors to get the one result, and Wax is only for windows. But it can work.
If anyone else knows of another alternative, please let us know??
