With the initial support of AMD graphics cards for Cycles rendering in OpenCL, there is one thing that keeps me busy. I looked up some popular GCN cards and discovered that only cards based on GCN 1.1 and up support OpenCL 2.0, so GCN 1.0 based cards like Tahiti and Pitcairn (7950/7970/7990/280(x)/7850/7870/265/270(x)/370(x)) have to deal with OpenCL 1.2 support. My question is: if I buy a GCN 1.0 card, how long will it take before it won’t be supported by Blender anymore? In other words: Do you, the developers, plan on only support OpenCL 2.0 and up in a future release of Blender?
