About time, maybe they’re even too late as the Duo-Core have been out for some time now (and even I have bought my Duo-Core due to the low price compared to AMD)
It’s kind of like Dreamcast when it came too late…and everyone else
had their 3d-monster-console out… the Dreamcast was very competent
but too late. Tardy ones always get totally ruined.
I used to be an AMD fan (still am in many ways) but it was back in the
heydays when they saved me lots of $$$ … I bought an AMD XP 2500
when the Intel-counterpart cost twice as much and the AMD beat the
living **** out of a P4 3 ghz.
But after I got my new laptop with an Duo-Core 1.83 ghz…and saw
Yafray render FOUR times faster when set to 2 processors, I was
completely BLOWN away, and it wasn’t expensive AT ALL. (unusual for
Intel)
AMD wasn’t even out in the local shops with their X2…and it performed
(in tests online) only a few percent better than the DUO-Core back
then…not warranting the x2-3 times the price of an Intel Duo Core.
AMD also just bought ATI as some of you might have heard on CNN
They should have bought Nvidia - bad move, unless they start implementing
FULL OpenGL Hardware support in the future ATI cards… because
the ATI cards are not bad really…they’re just too DirectX oriented only.

Dreamcast came out way before the PS2 or the Xbox.
