I would state my opinion about our allies to the south but my comments would make me look like a jerk and start a flame war between americans and the rest of us.

anyway, here I go.
Dispite some minor annoyances, I appreciate the americans for the good intentions I “think” they have. Of course, being a canadian, there is always the canadian vs american sentiment that gets in the way, but I realize that they are an important trading partner, and an invaluable ally. Their patriotism (seen by the rest of the world as “cockiness”) is something to be admired. Of course, I like Canada better. We have hockey and great tasting beer. 
I hope they realize that the views of some of our politicians do not necessarily reflect the views of the entire country.

I can say that most Americans, as far as I know, think rather highly of our northern neighbors. As for the politicians, we just assume they are mostly French, so we figure that explains it.
BTW… does anyone else think Chirac is starting to be quite rude and troublesome to some others in the E.U.? I think he may have some personal or other issues involved :-?

and I don’t think they said anything bad against usa…I mean, yea we don’t support the min the war…but that don’t mean we hate them…and I don’t think the canadian people want the canada to enter in this war…I mean this war is an american one…nothing else. They want to get saddam…and I think everyone want that…but we also all know they want to “secure” the oil…if you get what I mean…
What else would we think? There’s good fishing, good hunting, good beer, good snow sports, hockey, and some nice women. I really don’t think of Canada as being much different then here.
Oh yeah, and isn’t some of Comedy Central’s stuff from Canada?

BTW has anyone seen the show Talkin to america, its pretty funny. If there are any canadians (or americans) who havent seen it is urge u to watch it.
Some guy goes to the states and gats americans to sign these ridicoulus petitions to the canadian government and shows how much the average american knows about cananda. I was suprised to see that the younger children knew more than they’re parents did.
I’m talking mainly about Liberal MP Carolyn Parrish’s words, “those stupid morons. I hate those bastards.” in regards to a possible war on Iraq. I suppose she HAS “apologized” but still, as a representative of the country she has to watch her mouth.
I don’t have problems with people no matter where they come from. I only have problems with the obliteration, contradictions, the anachronisms of history; and the language, cliches, and mindless jargon used to justify these distortions of history.
Well… like Acasto I’ve never heard much negative about Canadians here, except some occasional health ribbing, Eh? You guys give us some good actors, comedians, and musicians. You got the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, and even though they seem a bit dorky, I think it’s kindof cool in that old nostalgic way. We had a show called “Due South”, with a Mounty that came down, and worked with one of our city cops… funny as hell, the character was like a cross between Sherlock Holmes, Grizzly Adams (old show, a mountain man who had a Dr. Doolittleish relationship with the mountain animals), and an Eagle Scout. Anyhow… I’m starting to consider changing my mind about French Canadians, considering the recent Islanders vs. Canadiens hokey game in Montreal, it seemed the whole stadium booed the whole way through our national anthem. I heard a recording, it was much more than just a few. Oh well… the Islanders kicked their buts in the end.
Also, about our beer. Sure, most people drink that watered down super-commercial crap, but we got some good stuff if you check out the microbreweries. Also, plenty of Americans who appreciate good beer make it themselves. My dad is damn good. He’s been making beer for several years, and made the switch from syrup to whole-grain brewing about 2-3 years ago. I know one of his batches he poored a glass of his, and a glass of Guinness, and I couldn’t tell the difference. So… if you look in the right places, Canadian beer probably isn’t any better, but more likely that most Canadians have better taste in beer than most Americans. Well… I don’t think it’s even that, but more that Bud, Miller, etc. are so prevalent, that most Americans start drinking that without realizing it’s not “real” beer. I know New Years before last when we were living on a base in Hawaii, dad brought a keg of his beer to a party we went to. While everybody had Bud and Miller and such, everyone but one person who tried dad’s beer continued drinking ONLY dad’s beer. They just needed the exposure. After that, there were regular Fridays where several of dad’s workmates came over just to sit and talk and drink dad’s beer (except one guy who drank O’Douls… non-alcoholic beer).

I have lived in New York City, New Orleans, and Boston (mostly N.Y.C.) I don’t think that I have EVER heard anything bad about the Canadians.

I wouldn’t worry too much about that if I were you, the hockey fans in Montreal have a reputation for booing for no reasons, so whenever anyone starts booing, everyone else follows…
that is very embarassing… 
I wouldn’t say the whole statium though, but at least 400-500 persons (which is still a lot).
of course, the habs couldn’t beat a team of anemic elders on skates…
some friends of mine will be at the game tonight, I asked them to boo the canadian anthem to get it even

My 2 cents . . .
Being english the thing I like about americans is their apparent enthusiasm to get things done and tackle the problems that face them head on. You can see that in the war thing, but it also works very well at a business and more personal level. Admittedly sometimes it goes overboard, but I don’t like the procrastinating alternative. In europe we do tend to hide our feelings a lot more, and there is so much political inertia here its unbelievable.
