The image of a shiny jug has been in my mind for quite some time. Also being a blender newbie, I did not know how to go about it. I experimented with the mesh and the main thing I learned was how to rotate a face by its local axis. That helped me make the handle and the pipe through which water is served.
Either the glass shader or the principled shader can create a decent’ish glass off the bat. However, it looks as though you are only using lights to illuminate the scene, and pretty much anything glossy needs something to reflect. Try using an HDRI.
With regards to the jug, the model looks fine, but again the texture needs work. Have a look at the fresnel node (or again, the principled shader which does frenel itself).
