Is there a reason you can’t just use Blender 2.75 (you’re missing out on so much functionality and power with the use of 2.4x)?

@Ace Dragon, i also 2.75, but recently i purchased a new computer. this one is 64 bit. my previous system was 32 bit. long ago i downloaded a 64 bit version of indigo renderer v 1.1.18. this needs blender 2.49b. i was thinking of playing around with this renderer, which in those days i thought was fantastic.
@Richard Marklew, i thought this was the correct forum, because my question is about why there is no install-able (dot exe) 2.49b for 64 bit systems. there is only a zipped version (run from anywhere) for 64 bit machines (for all versions). the dot exes are all for 32 bit systems.
is there a specific reason why 64 bit versions were only provided as a zip file (extract anywhere and run from there)? i wanted to ask if there is a way i can get hold of an install-able version of blender 2.49b.
You don’t need to ‘install’ Blender to get it to work, unzip the files and copy the folder to a new spot (with perhaps a desktop shortcut to the Blender .exe).
I haven’t used Blender as a truly installed program for ages and there’s not really any difference in how it runs.
blendigo v1118 installer asks me for the path to the blender2.49b folder. when i point it to the unzipped blender2.49b folder, it then says completed and the when i try to run the script from 2.49b, i don’t seem to be able to find it after opening a scripts window and searching under all the various entries in the script menu.
previously, in my older 32 bit system, i was able to install the blendigo1118 and it simply worked. without any issues.
Is all that hassle really worth it?
I’m sure Indigo is a great render engine, but we’re talking about a version that is 6(!) years old.
Is Indigo from 2009 really a match for some of the available render alternatives in 2015 - especially if using it means having to use a heavily outdated version of Blender, too?
@Ikari Shinji just curious and basically for nostalgia! i connected my old seagate portable drive and was browsing the contents when i came across a couple of renders from long ago!
not that today’s alternatives are insufficient. just idle curiosity. that is all. plus, it might teach me something about making older programs work in newer computers.
